CINEMA IS PASSION NOT FASHION FOR ME – UDAY K MEHTA
Posted date: 21 Mon, Oct 2013 – 01:24:01 AM

The shining producer Uday K Mehta of ‘Ravana, Krishnan Love Story and Bachchan’ says firmly cinema is my passion but not fashion. When I was a young boy I thought of producing a film. So the passion of those days grew up and I see vast change in the youngsters of today making right moves to save the producers says Mehta giving examples of Suni, Pawan Wadeyar, Nandakishore, Pawan Kumar, BM Giriraj, Vijayaprasad and a few others.

A producer will power is more important than wish today. Today the novelty with good presentation only gets going. The producer checks his budget and selects right team he is a winner he says. I really had no problems but when I saw the film for the opening of ‘Bachchan’ that cost Rs.80 lakhs for ten minutes and Rs.60 lakhs for the title song composed by Imran Sardaria I was not satisfied. Imran spent gave the budget of Rs.25 lakhs but it went up to Rs.60 lakhs. Why such things should happen for producer Uday K Mehta is questioning in his mind now.

Where does the money come for the dream of the director is very important? Going beyond the decided budget is shocking for any producer. In that way the new team is very systematic in looking at ‘Jobu and Jobbu’ smiles Mehta.

When I saw ‘Drama’ two actors stayed in my mind – one is Ninasam Ashwath and other one is Sindhu Lokanath. I decided to do a film with this pair and that is happening now in debut director Arasu Anthare ‘Love in Mandy’.

Congratulating ‘Lucia’ team on this occasion Uday K Mehta said he was with ‘Bachchan’ for one and half years that did not disturb his investment in any way.
